Heather Greenwood Davis
About
Heather Greenwood Davis is a trailblazer. She is the first Black woman to have a travel column in both Canadian National Newspapers. For twenty years she has told family travel stories that encourage parents to raise respectful global citizens who view both the world's pride and problems as their own, while also promoting the idea that parents don’t stop being adults when they have children.
For more than a decade she's told award-winning stories for National Geographic, National Geographic Travel and National Geographic Family. She is currently a Contributing Writer with National Geographic magazine, but as a frequently called upon travel expert, her insights also appear regularly in a host of national and international publications including AFAR and Travel+Leisure, and on podcasts, radio shows and television programs. As a speaker in university classrooms, at conferences and at trade gatherings, the former lawyer often speaks about the importance of living your bucket list, and the importance of travel as a pathway to understanding ourselves, each other and the world around us.
Globetrottingmama.com shares tales from her family’s adventures, as well as tips and advice that will help families travel better with or without the kids. She is also the host of the Travel Media of Canada award-winning podcast Tarmac Warriors, where she shared the extraordinary lessons to be learned from the lives of unique business travelers.
Among her many awards, National Geographic’s 2012 Travelers of the Year honour, awarded to her family after a yearlong, non-stop, family trip around the world, remains her most treasured. Heather lives in Toronto, Canada with her husband Ish and her sons Ethan and Cameron.
